Warnings From Charlie Kirk’s Assassination and the Cultural Revolution when my father died
This is an intensely personal story. As a child in China during the Cultural Revolution, I witnessed how political passion, once inflamed, turned ordinary citizens into enemies. My father, a professor, was exiled and died in forced labor. My stepbrother’s mother, a school principal, took her own life after brutal persecution. Tens of Millions of others were betrayed, beaten, or killed.
These tragedies are not just history lessons. They are warnings for today’s America. The same forces—demonization, manipulation, blind obedience, self-righteous anger—can surface here if we fail to see each other’s humanity.
- Refuse hatred, even when provoked.
- See the human side of those who vote and think differently.
- Reject violence — no good ever comes of it.
- Choose civility, tolerance, and respect.
In these divisive times, we can still preserve our country — and ourselves — by following our better angels. Our democracy is fragile. Every word, every action matters. THINK before you act.
